# WorkOffline > Offline AI work app for Mac and Windows, priced by the flat white. Compress PDFs, photos, Office files, video and audio for email in the same file format, ask questions about your own documents with page citations, and draft or proofread replies, all with no internet connection: on a train, on a plane, or anywhere without signal. Sister sites for commuters (https://workonthetrain.com) and flyers (https://workontheplane.com) link here. - Platforms: macOS and Windows. iPhone and Android planned. - Works offline after a one-time setup on Wi-Fi (about 10 minutes, downloads an AI model sized for the computer: Lite about 2.5 GB, Standard about 5.0 GB, Large about 9.0 GB). - Compress for email: PDF, JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, TIFF, BMP, HEIC (Mac only), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument and EPUB (the pictures inside are made smaller), and video and audio (MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, AVI, AAC, M4A, WAV, FLAC). The output is always the same format as the original, saved as a copy next to it. Presets: Smallest (default), Balanced, Fit Gmail (25 MB limit) and Fit Outlook (20 MB limit). WEBM and MP3 are not supported yet. - Answer labels: answers from the user's files cite file and page. General questions answered without sources are labelled "Limited general knowledge: this small offline AI model can be wrong or out of date." Current events, medical, legal and financial specifics are declined offline. - Free download: the app and the AI model download are free. With no ticket, compress works for files up to 10 MB. Everything else for one flat white. Laptops with 8 GB of memory. - Standard: Qwen3 8B (8.2 billion parameters, about 5.0 GB download, Apache 2.0). Laptops with 16 to 24 GB of memory. - Large: Qwen3 14B (14.8 billion parameters, about 9.0 GB download, Apache 2.0). Apple Silicon Macs with 32 GB or more. - Search helper: nomic-embed-text v1.5 (146 MB, Apache 2.0). ## Quick answers - Can I compress a PDF without an internet connection? Yes. On a Mac, Preview has a basic Reduce File Size option. WorkOffline compresses PDFs on Mac and Windows with no connection, with presets that fit Gmail’s 25 MB and Outlook’s 20 MB limits. It does the same for photos, Office files, videos and audio, and the file keeps its format. - What is the Gmail attachment size limit? Gmail allows attachments up to 25 MB per email. Larger files are sent as a Google Drive link, which needs an internet connection. - Does WorkOffline need Wi-Fi? Only once, for about 10 minutes during setup, and later for updates. After that it works with no signal, on a train, a plane or anywhere else. - How much does WorkOffline cost? The download is free, and compressing files up to 10 MB is free with no ticket.
